The Kansas Horizon Award Program, sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education, recognizes outstanding educators in their first year of teaching. Each year, Shawnee Heights selects two exceptional first-year teachers—one elementary and one secondary—to represent our district as Horizon Award nominees.
